General Conference weekend is great for a number of reasons. Not only do we get to hear the counsel of our Church leaders, but it is also a great time for reunions. Yesterday I attended the first ever Russia Moscow West Mission reunion. My mission president was the first president for that particular mission, and he just returned this past summer. It was so good to see everyone there. It was a great time to see people that I had gotten to know so well over a period of 18 months. I was especially glad to see one of my companions (I only had two American companions, and the other lives in Hawaii) and reminisce about our missions. Sean even came with me--even though he didn't serve in Russia it felt good to have him meet my mission president and fellow missionaries.
The second reunion I definitely did not have Sean attend. Winter semester 2006 I went on a study abroad to New Zealand. Now, our group was a bit different-- 31 girl and only 1 boy. Amazingly, we all got along really well and got really close during those 4 months abroad. Although it's been over three years since we got home, we still get together a few times a year. Now why wouldn't I have Sean come with me to this reunion? Well, I don't think anyone would want to sit around listening to a bunch of girls (and Josh) talk about inside jokes and random people we knew in New Zealand... but it sure was fun for me!
