I've recently starting to watch "So You Think You Can Dance." Emily knows a woman through work, who has a daughter and son-in-law on the show, so she wanted to see how they did. It's a lot like "American Idol," for those who (luckily) haven't seen it, except for the fact that "American Idol" is actually fun to watch. I'll say now that I have no appreciation for dance. And it's not because I can't do it-I don't like to sing, but I can appreciate a good singer. I don't like to play basketball, but it's impressive when someone can play very well. I don't, however, think it's impressive, noteworthy, or even interesting when someone can dance well. And when I say "dance," I mean "move around weirdly." I've provided a couple good examples of dance here and here. Again, I'm not saying it's easy...just silly. Also, I'm aware the first one isn't serious, but it's funny so I had to add it.
But, back to the show. It's stupid. The judges are annoying, the people are stupid, and the dancing is silly. But that's redundant. And, the girls all dance in their underwear. I don't know when this became appropriate, but I imagine it happened around the same time that women started running in bikinis during the olympics. If you like dancing already, don't watch the show because you'll grow to hate it. If you already dislike dancing, you should also not watch the show, because you'll grow to hate it more.
