Conference

Every yeah I enjoy General Conference more and more. My mission may have been one exception; conference was the highlight of our year. My enjoyment still doesn't prevent me from falling asleep, but I'm now to the point that I'm conscious for more than half of the talks. Before I die I'd like to be able to sit through an entire session. I once thought that actually being there would help me, but that just made it worse. In any case, I do love the talks, and come away every yeah with things I can change or improve upon. I noticed multiple talks on family relationships this year, and that Elder Bednar actually squirms in his seat when members profess their love for one another during their talks. Elder Bednar also has the world's smallest tie knots. He visited my mission once for a certain event and shared some amazing stories with us, but I couldn't help but notice his knot and the fact that I would never want to be the target of his displeasure. But I loved his talk today.

I need to find one item to focus on this year, and really work on improving it. Often, after General Conference, I have so many ideas and goals that I can't focus on any of them, and soon lose interest. Maybe I will work on being productive and efficient. Perhaps I will improve my personal efforts to know God better. Or maybe I will better express my love for those around me, including my wife. I'd love to say here how much I love and appreciate her, even though I don't show it often enough, but I'm worried that Elder Bednar might read this blog and get upset with me. So I won't.
