Family Time!

My parents were in town last weekend. They stopped in Utah on their way back from their mission in South Africa. They were supposed to be gone for 2 years, but came home a year early because they've been called to be mission presidents (for three years) starting in July. You can click here to see the announcement that was in the Church News recently. My parents are the last ones listed on the page. They don't know where they'll be going in July; they should find out in the next month or two.

It was a lot of fun seeing them for the few days that they were here. They came down to Provo on Friday and met Sean, Garrett, and me for lunch at Cafe Rio (Missy was student teaching so she couldn't come). My dad was so pleased to have Mexican food again--it was pretty funny. That night, we all met (including Missy) at P.F. Changs for dinner. Chinese food was another food type not commonly found in Johannesburg.

On Saturday, everyone came over to our apartment to watch the BYU vs. UNLV basketball game. The game was in Provo, but, like all BYU games these days, it was sold out. It was my dad's first time seeing Jimmer Fredette play and he was just as impressed as the rest of us. Watching basketball with the whole family is much different than just watching it with Sean. While Sean and I watch, we don't really talk except if it relates to the game. This is not the case when everyone is over. I learned why my dad used to tune us out so well when he watched sports at home. :)

After the game on Saturday we drove up to Brigham City and met Will at Maddox for dinner. I've been hearing about Maddox for a while and it did not disappoint. Great steak and great homemade rootbeer. I was impressed. We hung out at Will's for a while and then Sean and I stayed at the not-so-lovely Galaxie Motel again. This is the same place we stayed at during Thanksgiving Break. We were less impressed this time. We'll just say that we could see the comforter through the top sheet...gross. We probably won't stay there again. At least the price was right.

We went to Church with Will's family on Sunday, hung out for a while and then came back to P-town. It was really good to see everyone for the weekend. I'm excited to find out where my parents will be going on their next mission and it will be nice to be able to see them at least once more before they leave!

!!!!Your parents are back!!!! Although the Mission President thing is a big deal, I'll be honest, I'll think it's a little less cool if they aren't called back somewhere as distant as Johanesburg... or however it's spelled.

That sounded like a really great weekend. Congradulations!

Are you feeling the Jimmer love too? I love watching the games.

Also, I saw your parents in Fairbanks! I sang in 3rd ward, and they were there. Jordan's dad had said that they were called as a mission presidency, but I didn't realize they were coming back! Yay for them.
