This week Sean's parents came into town to visit all of the Nowling children (except Sister Laura Nowling, of course), and to go skiing. It was a really fun weekend. The got here on Thursday and stayed until Sunday morning. We went out to dinner with them on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and went skiing on Saturday as well. Between the 2 sets of parents visiting, I think we only cooked for ourselves 2 or 3 times in the past week and a half! It's been a nice break. I've eaten enough for the next month though...
Skiing was a lot of fun on Saturday. We went to Solitude; it was the first time skiing there for all of us. It was pretty fun. It was nice because it wasn't crowded at all, but the mountain is set up a little weird.. so it took some getting used to. It was a lot of fun to ski with everyone though. I was skiing better than I ever have (I was still the slowest though... oh well, that's what I get for marrying into a family of skiers). We all had a great time.
My parents called when we were on our way to go skiing, so I got to talk to them for a few minutes. It sounds like they're doing really well--really busy, but really well.
Saturday night's dinner was a lot of fun. We went to Sundance to eat and Fred and Sherry Zirkle came with us. Fred's birthday is on Wednesday, so it was a combined birthday dinner. It was a blast. The food was good and the company was better.
On Sunday we decided to have a barbecue. We got a mini grill for our wedding that we hadn't put together yet. Sean put it together, claiming it was a death trap. It had lots of really sharp edges, so you had to be careful whenever you touched anything. But, he got it together and everything tasted so much better on the grill! We're exciting to have it up and running; we'll use it all the time now.
Sunday we had some people over for my birthday. Sean's parents had already left, but we had a good amount of people there. Missy, Garrett, Chris, Jessie, Isaiah, Rachel, Andrew, Jody, Dale, and Alana all came. Sean made a carrot cake--it was delicious! It was really fun to see everyone.
Missy also made a cake for me, so on Monday night we went over there and had cheesecake. It was also delicious; I really love cheesecake.
So, I ate my way through my birthday with friends and family. It was a lot of fun--I'm glad that I got to see everyone during these past couple of weeks! It's going to be a couple months before we get visitors again, so I'm glad I saw everyone I did.
