This Valentine's day was a bit nontraditional as my parents were in town for the few days before they left on their mission. So, Sean and I decided to celebrate Valentine's day the day before. Sean made a great dinner- filet mignon and crab legs. It turned out really, really well.
On Valentine's da
y, we drove up to Brigham City to spend the day at Will and Andria's house. Missy, Garrett, and my parents were also there, so it was a full house. Will and Andria have a tradition of doing "secret" valentines (similar to secret santas). Everyone drew a name and then made a homemade valentine for that person. It was pretty fun to see what everyone came up with. Hannah wrote a really funny poem for Mom about their mission and Sean wrote a funny poem for Hannah about finally leaving primary. I had Dad; I didn't
write a poem but I made a people paper chain with each of us on it. It was a lot of fun.
Dinner was delicious that night--we had London broil with all sorts of sides. Later that night we had a mini-birthday celebration for me, much to my surprise. My birthday isn't for a week, so I wasn't expecting anything. We had strawberry pie, and of course the birthday song, Wood style. For those of you who

My birthday isn't for a week, so I wasn't expecting anything. We had strawberry pie, and of course the birthday song, Wood style. For those of you who
have never experienced the Wood birthday song, it consists of everyone yelling, except for my Mom and Dad (and my Dad's singing kind of sounds like yelling). Sea
n also sang too. Josh (my one and a half year old nephew) looked so shocked, it was so funny. We stayed at Will's
house that night so that we could drop my parents off at the airport the next morning.
We woke up early, said our goodbye's to Will's family and headed to the SLC airport. Missy and Garrett came with us and it's a good thing--Mom and Dad had SO much luggage! After dropping off their rental car, we drove them to the airport. Actually, we drove their luggage to the airport, Missy and Garrett drove them to the airport. It was weird saying goodbye to them, but we are all excited for them--Good luck in South Africa Mom and Dad!

I like the secret valentines, what a fun idea. That's neat that you got to spend the last few days with your parents, they are going to be such awesome missionaries. And reading about your delicious sounding dinners has made me very hungry:)
Great post Emily--I'm glad you have a blog now and I like the picture you posted. I don't remember anyone taking that so I'm glad, since I lost my camera. I've found it now, but a little late to record the day.
Wow... South Africa!? Good luck to your parents, they'll be great missionaries! Sounds like you had a good birthday too. I like peeking in on your blog and seeing what you're doing. :) We've got a private blog and if you're interested I can send you an invite.
OH MY GOODNESS!!! The kids are soooooooo big/old now! I guess I haven't seen pictures in forever but I remember when they were babies! Time flies. I bet it was fun to see so much family!
I would love to get an invite Lisa! I hope things are going well for you!
