Mountain Biking

Today I met up with one of my mission companions and spent the morning biking up by Draper. When he served together, he always spoke about the trails by his home, and how they were better than anything else on Earth. We both love mountain biking, so I've been excited to go with him and see these trails for myself. In short, they were very very good. But very very long, and our bikes aren't setting any standards in lightness. However, we pedaled to the top in good time and enjoyed the beautiful scenery at the top. The city of Draper is slowly sprawling higher and higher into the mountains, but it is still a nice area. The trails stretch for miles in the surrounding mountains, just minutes from my friend's house.

The ride down was almost as demanding as the ride up. I usually ride by myself in the same places and at the same pace. It's hard to get better in that routine; to improve, one needs to hang with a person or group of a higher skill-level. So, today gave me a good opportunity to push myself beyond what I normally do, and see how much better I could be. Improving would mean spending more time on my bike, so we'll see how Emily feels about that. But I did have a great time today, and am looking forward to going back to Draper some other time.
