9 Months!

This past month has flown by!  I can hardly believe that Madeline is now 9 months old.  She is at such a fun stage right now; she is so curious and always exploring.

Here are some facts about Madeline:

Madeline and Carter
52-card pick up
She fell asleep mid-crawl
  • Is 27 inches tall (approx. 20th percentile), 17 lbs 12 oz (approx. 30th percentile), and her head is 17.60 inches around (approx. 60th percentile).
  • Has gotten so fast at crawling.  I feel like this happened overnight.  She's our little speedster.
  • Is pulling herself to a stand on furniture. And when she's standing she's on her tip toes.
  • Likes to stop mid-crawl to do a downward dog or a plank.  It's pretty funny, but I have yet to get a picture of it.
  • Loves to follow us around the apartment.
  • Moves a ton in her sleep.  Every time I go look at her in the crib she is in a completely different place than before and often in a really caddywhompus position.
  • Still loves food, but has gotten slightly pickier.  For instance, she decided she doesn't like pureed green vegetables, but will eat them non-pureed.  And she still loves pureed fruits and orange vegetables.  Finger foods of all kinds are still a hit and she loves eating whatever we're eating.  Oh, and she would eat yogurt until she got sick if we let her.
  • Stranger anxiety is picking up, which she demonstrated extremely well at the doctor's office yesterday.
  • Likes being around other babies (especially her friend Carter) even if she doesn't quite play with them yet.  (I'm not considering stealing toys from other babies as playing.  She's a pro at that).
  • Yells when she wants something.  We're working on this because we don't want her to get in the habit of throwing tantrums to get what she wants.
  • Loves to "hide" from us.  She'll crawl away really fast until she can't see us.  She gets really excited when we "find" her.
  • Loves the jogging stroller.  And loves just sitting in the normal stroller.  Often when we come in from walks she doesn't want to come out of the stroller.
  • Loves the bath and her rubber duck that she only plays with in the bath.
  • Is scared of grass and sand.  And geese.  The one advantage to this is she stays contained to blankets when we're outside; she won't even considering crawling on the grass/sand even if there is something she really, really wants a few feet away.
Overall things are going great.  Madeline is keeping us on our toes and constantly amazing us with her abilities.  We love watching her explore.  Her curiosity also motivates us to sweep, mop, and vacuum our floors really often, which benefits everyone.

I miss you guys too. And of course, Chris is in Minneapolis this week, but didn't tell me that's where he was going until this weekend. Poo.

It would be so good to see you guys though. And Miss Madeline is just beautiful. Truly.
